Very Special East Indian Green Dal With Coconut Milk

Have you ever tried Toor Dal recipe with Coconut ? If not, this is the right time to give a try on this healthy dish There are 100 versions of Dal particularly the North Indians and Gujratis are famous for their dal  , But Dal with Coconut Milk in Green Masala is very Rare combination  never came across any community making this version of  Dal   Moong Dal and Toor Dal these 2 variants is very popular amoung East Indians and  Maharastrians  of Mumbai . We Often make this Toor Dal . Especially with the addition of Coconut ,
Mumbai being a coastal city is abundantly flushed with Coconut , Hence most of our dishes contains coconut ,  This particular Dal is not only a healthy one but also a tasty recipe. Since it doesn’t contain any spiciness, kids love to have this healthy vegetarian dish.
This particular Ever Green Dal  is a good combo with Steam Rice , Fried Fish and any  Pickle and Papad of your choice .
Required Ingredients :

Wash your 250 gms Toor Dal twice or thrice under cold water
Drain of all the excess water , then refill with clean water 1 inch above the surface of dal
Soak this Toor Dal for 2 hours prior to cooking

First Step Of  Dal Tempering :

Prepare the following Tadka to make this Green Dal
Heat your vessel
Add 2 tablespoon full of Oil
Sligthly saute your
1 finely chopped onion until soft and transculent ( pls don’t brown it )
1 finely diced Tomato cook until soft and pulpy
Few leaves of kadi pata add and saute for few seconds
4 to 5 slitted Green Chilles saute and fry until soft
¼ to ½  teaspoon of Turmeric powder saute and fry for just 1 minute
Then immediately pour in your soaked Toor Dal along with all it's water
Let this Dal cook and simmer on slow flame
In the mean time go ahead and Prepare Green Masala by using following things below

The Greeen Masala :

6 to 7 flakes of Garlic
½  pieces of diced Ginger
2 tablespoon of Chopped Green Coriander leaves
¼ wati of Scrapped Fresh Coconut
1 teaspoon whole Jeera
Grind all this above ingredients in Mixer adding little bit of water to it  .
  
Method Of Preparation :

Add this Ground Green Coconut Masala
To your simmering Toor Dal
Stir well and incorporate your Dal and Ground Green Masala throughly
Add sufficient water to make nice semi thick Dal
It's not a watery Dal so pls add water carefully
Check overall taste  
check the Salt , add Pinch of Termeric powder if you have to
At the end add bit of Chopped  Green Coriander  Leaves

Remove and serve this Fabulous Ever Green Dal  with Steamed Rice and Fried Fish along with it .
