Mutton Stew is a light soup like gravy with Mutton
and Vegetables Such as Carrot , Potato & Green Peas , Its light as it
doesn’t have Coconut and light on spices too , It Tastes very good with Steamed
Rice or Fugias , Mutton Stew is one of East Indians Favourite dish cooked for
Weddings & Every feast or any special occasion or for Sunday meals too .
Boiling Of Mutton :
½ kg mutton with Bones & Marrow
Cut Mutton pieces into appropriate size
Wash it 2 to 3 times drain of all the excess
water
Place this meat in a pressure cooker
Add just 1 cup of water
Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
And 1 teaspoon of Salt
Then On a Medium Heat
Pressure cook it for 25 to 30 minutes around 5
to 6 whistles
Cook until bones soften and meat almost cooked.
Remove it along with the stock and set it aside
Required Ingredients
On the other side prepare the list of other
things required to make your stew
Finely chop 3 large pieces of Onion
4 finely chopped Green Chillies
½ inch piece Ginger finely chopped
½ pod Garlic
finely chopped
1 large Tomatoes finely chopped
2 long sliced
skinned Potatoes
1/2 Cup frozen or fresh Green Peas
2 carrots tender sliced
1 pinch of Saffron
2 tablespoon of Semolina Rava .
2 to 3 tablespoon of Oil
Salt to taste
Stew powder
I use 1 tablespoon Homemade Stew Masala which
consists of
25 pods Of Green Elaichi / Cardomom
7 inch sticks of Dalchini,
35 pcs Lavang
Please Note no Need to pan roast these spices
directly place it
Grind this into Fine Powder in Dry Mixer
Store it in small glass bottle , This Masala is
exclusively used for Mutton / Chicken / Beef

Method Of Preparation
Heat oil in Vessel add some Oil to it
Then start with Onion saute it until soft and Transculent
Then add Green Chillies fry well until soft
Then add finely chopped Ginger & Garlic fry nicely
Mix all this well until flavour erupt’s
Then add finely chopped Tomatoes and cook until
its soft and dissolved
Then add Boiled Mutton along with its Stock
Add little bit of more water that you require to
make your Gravy
Then add your sliced Potatoes , sliced Carrot and
Green Peas to it
Then add your Stew Masala at this point
You can add ½ teaspoon of Turmeric Powder if you
like more at this point
Pinch of Saffron
Then finally add bit of Semolina Rava to thicken
your gravy
Cook it till you get the desired Taste and Consistency
Balance Salt and Stew powder to give that Stewy Flavour
to Your Mutton
Enjoy it while its still Hot with Fugias or Steam
Rice it goes best with it .
