Bagra Ch Ambat / Mackerel Fish Curry – recipe for a classic
fish curry that is almost cooked in
every East Indian Homes , Mackreal
is known as Bangda or Bagra in East India dilect , Mackreal is cheap and easily
available but above all its nutritious its an oily fish which is rich in omega
3 fatty acid its eaten and enjoyed all over the world Fresh pieces of Mackerel cooked in a light Coconut
Based Curry Sauce served over Steamed Rice.

Ingredients
Required :
3
to 4 whole Bagra fish cut each fish
into 4 pieces
Clean
the gills and stomach wash it well under cold water Rinse it thoroughly and set
aside
1
bowl Grated Coconut
6
cloves of Garlic
1
small piece of Ginger
6
fresh Green Chillies
½
cup of Fresh Coriander Leaves
3
tablespoon East Indian Fish Masala
Place
all of the above ingredients in a Mixer add little bit of water to grind it to
a fine paste

tablespoon Oil
1
Onion finely chopped
½
tablespoon Tamarind Pulp
Salt
as per Requirement
Method
of preparation :
Take
a vessel place it on a burner and heat it on medium flame
Once
the Oil is heated
Add
the sliced Onion and cook until light browned once its done
Add
the above Ground Masala and fry it well
Until
it releases Oil from all sides and corner of the vessel
Then
add 1 glass of Water and Tamarind pulp
Then
add Bagra Fish submerge it into the gravy by giving it a gentle mix
Add
required amount of Salt and cook for 5 minutes on medium heat
Once
done lower the heat and allow to simmer for couple of minutes
Top
it up with bit of freshly chopped Green Coriander Leaves
Remove
and serve this Bagra Ch Ambat with
Steamed White Rice
