Crispy fried especially Rava Fried Bombils are a favourite at any East Indian homes we do make another versions of Fried Bombils  Stuffed in Green Masala too ,  But we prefer this simple yet yummy Crispy Fried Bombils 
These Bombil fry needs very little ingredients lightly marinated with Salt &  Turmeric , These bombils are then pressed on Rice flour and Rava / Semolina  then shallow fried on pan until crispy  , These crispy Fried Rava coated Bombils makes a great appetizer popular as nuggets with kids they love and enjoy   these are best served when hot and crispy
These Crispy Fried Bombils go well with simple Dal Rice or any Fish Curry with Rice these can be enjoyed with Chapatis / and Rice Rowtys too 


Required  Ingredients : 
10 to 12 fresh bombils / Bombay ducks
1  to 2 teaspoon red chilli powder  / fish masala /   ( optional add if you want it bit spicy ) 
¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder ( Incase you are adding only Turmeric then use 1 teaspoon of it )  
½  cup Rava  sooji to coat
½ cup Rice Flour
Oil to shallow fry
Salt to taste 

Method of  Preparation :
Clean the bombils remove the fins and the head  
You can slit it horizontally and discard the center thorn if you wish   
Cut the bombils into 2 or you may keep it whole 
Apply the Salt  , Turmeric powder and keep aside for 10 to 15 minutes 
Add Red Chilli Powder or East Indian Fish Masala Only if you wish a spicer version  
When ready to fry heat oil in a frying pan
In 2 separate plate  spread out Rava and Rice flour in another  
Coat the Bombils / Bombay ducks first with Rice Flour then with   Rava and dust the excess flour
Shallow fry in hot oil till  Light Golden Brown and Crispy  

Pls Note :
Adding Rice flour makes the Bombils Crisp  
Another trick to turn these Fried Bombil more crispier is to place them after shallow frying in a Microwave oven for about  1 ½ to 2 minutes , it will further absorb moisture and make your Fried Bombils Turn Nice and Crisp
This bombils need less salt so use sparingly check the margination if you feel more salt is needed
