These Rice Rotis Have several Names Originally its called Aapas Handmade Rice Rotis while some call it Rice Rowtys
The flatbread is made up of Three simple ingredients (Rice + Water + Salt )
It’s not flavorful or delicious or really anything other
than a simple flatbread. But It’s a Awesome vehicle that’ll help you scoop up Mutton , Chicken , Pork, Beef ,Seafood, Fried Fish ,Vegetables & Dal
almost anything , It's the only kind of Bread That
Literally Goes With Everything
We use 2 types of rice
flour to make these Rowtys , Baras we
call it in Marathi is the type of rice which I use to make my Rowtys we get this in some baniya or kinara shops here in mumbai
While Some use even Patni
Rice Mixed with Ratha Rice as the other variant
to make Rice Rowtys
The beauty of Rice
Rowty’s is it does
not contain any Oil. Hence its healthy and easily digestible
Ingredients Required To Make Rowty Dough
2 big
bowl
( 400 gms ) of Rice Flour
( Baras or Patni mixed with Ratha
rice )
1 ¼ bowl of Water
Salt to taste
Combine the ingredients for your dough
Boil the water add Salt in the water
When
the water boils add the rice flour
Now
cover and keep for 4 to 5 minutes
Remove
lid mix with a wooden spoon, after 1 min off the gas
Turn the dough onto your work surface
Empty the contents called Khoi in a thala ( Parat )
The Khoi (
dough ) is very hot so take care to deal with it as it
slowly cools off
Then
start kneading the dough with your bare hands adding little by little water to
it .
Kneading the Dough
Divide
into 150 gms balls size. Then one by one start the process of pressing giving
shape to it , Place each dough ball on Polpat a round wooden chapatti board , apply
little water on the palms of your hands while pressing it down
These
rotis are made and given shape by hands and frequently edging and rounding off
its edges To form perfect round shape
drizzling with water when required
Shaping & Air Drying Process Of Rowtys
Keeping spreading until it measures at about 6 to 8 inch in
diameter it is placed upon a dry clean cloth place on flat table surface for
drying purpose for 10 to 15 minutes ( This air
drying process is very important for Rowtys to puff up )
Baking Of Rowtys On Tawa
Heat a Tava or Khapri or Non Stick Griddle on medium heat
And bake on one side of it
Turn
once and bake bit of other side
Then
immediately turn to right side again till it puffs up like a puri.
Remove
gather in a Soupie ( Winnower )straw
basket if you got and
cover it with dry cloth .
Serve these Hot Hot Rice Rowtys with your favourite Fish , Chicken , Bhaji or Mutton Curries its
so good its goes with almost anything
